In a recent crackdown across Kano State, the Police Command successfully seized illegal drugs and intoxicants valued at more than N120 million.
According to a statement released on Thursday by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the operations also led to the arrest of two individuals suspected of armed robbery.
During a raid in Jalli Village within Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area, officers confiscated 540 packets of suspected Pregabalin capsules, estimated to be worth N40,500,000.
Further, on September 30 at approximately 11:15 a.m., a surveillance unit intercepted two suspects at Dangauro Trailer Park.
“The suspects were found carrying seven sacks containing a liquid intoxicant known locally as ‘Akuskura.’ Each sack held 350 bottles, amounting to a total of 2,450 bottles, with an approximate value of ₦2,450,000,” the statement detailed.
SP Kiyawa emphasized the importance of inter-agency cooperation, noting that “all recovered items, suspects, and over N120 million worth of suspected Tramadol, Pregabalin, and Cannabis Sativa have been handed over to the NDLEA Kano Command for further investigation.”
In a related development, the Command apprehended two notorious armed robbery suspects: 20-year-old Nura Sani from Zango Town, Bauchi State, and 35-year-old Ibrahim Lawan from Katsina State.

Commissioner of Police, CP I. A. Bakori, praised the officers for their dedication, affirming the Command’s ongoing commitment to locating other fugitives and recovering all stolen property.
He also expressed gratitude to the community for their continued support and encouraged citizens to maintain collaboration with security agencies to foster a safer environment in Kano State.
