The Kano State Shura Council has issued a strong advisory to Islamic scholars, urging them to refrain from making public remarks regarding the ongoing inquiry into the alleged blasphemy accusations against Sheikh Lawan Shu’aibu Abubakar, widely known as Triumph.
Addressing the press on Sunday in Kano, the Council’s Secretary, Shehu Wada Sagagi, called for patience and composure, assuring that the investigation is being conducted with utmost fairness and openness.
“The committee has been made aware of recent developments. We therefore appeal to the public, particularly religious leaders, to withhold comments on this sensitive matter. The council is actively managing the situation, and all actions will be transparently communicated,” Sagagi stated.
He also cautioned clerics from outside Kano State against issuing statements that might escalate tensions.
“Our commitment is to administer justice impartially. We urge everyone to act with reverence and avoid spreading misinformation that could provoke unrest,” he emphasized.
Furthermore, Sagagi clarified that the Kano State government holds no political agenda in this case, stressing that its sole aim is to uphold justice and preserve peace within the community.
He revealed that a dedicated subcommittee has been established to thoroughly review the core issues involved, after which Sheikh Lawan Abubakar Triumph will be given the opportunity to present his defense.
