In a significant move to strengthen security measures, the Kebbi State Government has provided the Nigerian Army with six Toyota Hilux vehicles and 30 motorcycles. This donation is part of the state’s ongoing strategy to curb insecurity within its borders.
During the handover ceremony at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi, Governor Nasir Idris presented the equipment to Colonel Hussani Rabi’u Toro, Commandant of the 8 Division Technical. The governor emphasized his administration’s steadfast dedication to supplying the military with essential logistics to boost their operational effectiveness against terrorist groups, especially targeting the Lakurawa bandits and other criminal factions.
“Protecting the lives and properties of Kebbi residents is a foremost concern for my administration,” Governor Idris stated.
He added that while the military is the initial beneficiary of this support, other security agencies within the state will soon receive similar assistance to enhance their capabilities.
Governor Idris also praised the security forces, particularly the military, for their prompt and courageous responses to banditry incidents throughout Kebbi State. He extended his appreciation to the Chief of Defence Staff and the leadership of the Air Force and Navy for their plans to establish military and naval installations in the state’s most vulnerable regions.
Expressing his thanks upon receiving the vehicles and motorcycles, Colonel Hussani Rabi’u Toro acknowledged the governor’s generosity, highlighting that the new assets would significantly improve the Army’s capacity to swiftly counter threats and dismantle bandit groups, including the infamous Lakurawa faction.
