Kelechi Iheanacho carved out a club-world-cup-semis/” title=”Nine…man PSG beat Bayern to reach … World Cup semis”>memorable chapter in the English Premier League with Leicester City, securing both the FA Cup and the FA Community Shield during his tenure.
Charles Mulgrew, former Scotland international and ex-defender for Wolverhampton Wanderers, has expressed strong confidence in Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho’s potential impact at Celtic Park, according to Soccernet.ng.
At 28 years old, Iheanacho departed Sevilla on a free transfer despite having two years remaining on his contract. Convinced that his prospects in Spain were limited, the former Leicester City forward and the Europa League club mutually agreed to terminate his contract.
Subsequently, Iheanacho committed to Celtic on a one-year contract, which includes an option to extend for an additional season.
Mulgrew Voices Strong Support for Iheanacho’s Prospects
The signing of Iheanacho, a former Manchester City striker, has sparked mixed reactions among Celtic supporters. However, Mulgrew, who boasts over 200 appearances for the club that once lifted the UEFA Champions League trophy, emphasized Iheanacho’s proven quality as a reassurance to skeptics.
“He didn’t arrive on deadline day but came in shortly after – a striker was needed, and then he showed up,” Mulgrew remarked, as reported by Record Sport.
“People start questioning when he last played and what condition he’s in.”

“There are a few images of him circulating online, but ultimately, his performance on the pitch will be the true measure,” Mulgrew added.

Mulgrew, a five-time Scottish Premiership champion, believes Iheanacho’s on-field displays will ultimately validate Celtic’s decision to bring him in.
“He’s still in his prime and will be eager to prove himself here. He understands the stature of this club and will want to give his all to make a strong comeback,” Mulgrew said.
“On paper, this looks like a smart acquisition. Once he regains full fitness and match sharpness – which might take some time – he could become a vital asset.”
“Brendan Rodgers has a close working relationship with him and knows both his playing style and professionalism well.”

“Rodgers once preferred him over Jamie Vardy, which speaks volumes about the level he holds him to,” Mulgrew added.
“Securing Iheanacho is a significant coup for Celtic. Now, it’s about him getting back to full fitness and ready to contribute goals.”
Iheanacho is expected to make his debut for Celtic on Sunday, 14th September, when the team faces Kilmarnock at Rugby Park, also known as the BBSP Stadium.
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has expressed faith in Iheanacho’s ability to rediscover his top form, especially after the striker voiced his ambition to win trophies with the historic club.
