In a bid to enhance social welfare and foster community growth, Keystone Bank Limited has launched the first phase of its 2025 Employee Volunteering Scheme (EVS) in Akure, Ondo State, partnering with the EGO Foundation.
This initiative aims to empower women by providing them with hands-on vocational training designed to boost their independence and economic stability.
The training sessions covered a variety of practical skills, including baking, wig crafting and hair styling, production of liquid soap and disinfectants, as well as makeup application and gele artistry.
After a week of intensive learning, the program culminated in a graduation event where participants were honored and given starter kits to help them immediately put their new skills into practice.
Izore Lami Bamawo, Group Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications at Keystone Bank, emphasized the bank’s philosophy: “We believe genuine empowerment stems from equipping individuals with the necessary tools and opportunities to transform their lives sustainably.”
She added, “The EVS initiative actively involves our employees in making a tangible difference within communities. This year’s focus on young women in Akure is especially meaningful, as it nurtures self-sufficiency through vocational education.”
“Our commitment extends beyond financial services; we strive to create lasting social impact. By promoting skill development and entrepreneurship, we aim to tackle unemployment, encourage innovation, and bolster local economies. This project exemplifies our dedication to sustainable community advancement.”
Keystone Bank’s Employee Volunteering Scheme stands as a cornerstone of its corporate social responsibility efforts. Past programs have addressed vital issues such as education, healthcare, menstrual hygiene, and community upliftment, collaborating with state authorities, NGOs, and other partners.
With the successful wrap-up of the 2025 Phase 1 project in Akure, Keystone Bank and the EGO Foundation have reinforced their commitment to being a socially responsible organization focused on economic empowerment, inclusive growth, and sustainable development.
