The Nigerian Army has mobilized an entire brigade along with heavy military hardware across various locations in Kwara South. Soldiers have been actively patrolling communities such as Oke-Ode and Babanla within the Ifelodun local government area, intensifying security presence on the ground.
Simultaneously, the security operation is expanding into Kwara North, specifically targeting Edu and Patigi local government areas. Troops are conducting thorough searches through dense forested regions, which have become hideouts for kidnappers responsible for recent abductions and ransom demands in surrounding villages.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who recently held discussions with President Bola Tinubu during the latter’s visit to Jos, Plateau State, expressed gratitude for the federal government’s backing. He also praised the military leadership and allied security agencies for their renewed commitment to restoring peace and safeguarding residents.
In an official statement released by his chief press secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, the governor affirmed, “We are fully prepared to allocate all necessary resources to support the military, DSS, police, and other security bodies as they intensify efforts to protect lives and property.”
The governor warmly received the deployment of troops to the state, emphasizing optimism about the ongoing mission.
“This initiative, under the umbrella of Operation Fasan Yanma, is expected to eradicate all security threats in both Kwara South and Kwara North. I appreciate the President and security agencies for their dedication thus far. As I mentioned recently, we must redouble our efforts to safeguard our citizens. I am confident that the brigade led by Brigadier General A.A. Babatunde will successfully clear these areas,” he stated.
Additionally, Governor AbdulRazaq acknowledged the crucial roles played by the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), the Chief of Army Staff, the General Officer Commanding of the 2nd Division, and all other involved officers for their unwavering support.
