Oba Joel Titiloye, the Oloro of Oro Kingdom in Kwara State’s Irepodun local government area, has urged politicians to refrain from exploiting the state’s security issues for political advantage.
The traditional ruler emphasized that the rising insecurity affecting both the northern and southern regions of Kwara demands serious contemplation. He called on all stakeholders to collaborate closely with the government to defuse tensions and address the root causes promptly.
In a statement personally released to the press in Ilorin, Oba Titiloye expressed deep concern over attempts by certain individuals to leverage the current security challenges for political gain.
He highlighted the proactive efforts of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s administration, which, alongside security agencies, is dedicated to eradicating criminal activities and restoring peace across the state.
According to the monarch, credible information confirms that the state government remains vigilant and committed to tackling the security threats head-on.
Oba Titiloye appealed to residents, especially those in rural communities, to actively share timely intelligence that could help dismantle criminal networks before they execute their harmful plans.
Expressing sympathy for victims and their families affected by recent violent incidents, the Oloro urged citizens to prioritize the welfare of Kwara State and the nation above ethnic, political, or sectional loyalties.
“It is disheartening that some political figures have chosen to capitalize on the insecurity in both the northern and southern parts of the state. Such actions only deepen the crisis,” he remarked.
“During challenging times like these, we should foster unity, compassion, and collective action to devise new strategies that will expel these criminal elements from Kwara. Spreading misinformation about the security situation only fuels fear among the populace,” Oba Titiloye added.
“I acknowledge the significant strides made by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq in combating insecurity. Rather than exploiting this unfortunate situation for political leverage, we must approach it with seriousness and solidarity,” he concluded.
“Now more than ever, we must look out for one another, speak up when we witness suspicious activities, and provide security agencies with prompt and accurate information,” the Oloro urged.
