Prominent socio-political advocate Aisha Yesufu has taken a jab at Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, following a contentious exchange he had with Arise Television host Rufai Oseni regarding the expenses involved in certain stretches of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway.
During a live broadcast on Tuesday, Oseni confronted Umahi about the per-kilometer cost of the umahi-investigates-winhomes-claims/” title=”Lagos-Calabar Highway Controversy: … Demands Thorough Investigation into Winhomes' Allegations”>highway project, later revealing that Umahi allegedly reported him to President Bola Tinubu for raising such questions.
Umahi, visibly irritated by the accusation, dismissed the claim by stating that Oseni was too insignificant to be reported to the President. The confrontation escalated with Oseni telling the Minister to be quiet, asserting that he possessed concrete data indicating the actual costs differed from what was publicly disclosed.
Responding to the incident on X the following day, Yesufu suggested that Umahi still carries the mindset of his former role as Ebonyi State governor, where he was a dominant figure locally.
“There is always an average cost; he didn’t need to specify an exact number,” Yesufu commented.
“It’s reasonable to expect some variation in costs across different kilometers, but providing a rough estimate would have been appropriate.
“Clearly, Dave Umahi continues to act as if he’s still the local champion of Ebonyi State.”
