The Association of Local Government Information Officers in Nigeria has recognized Kano State Governor Alhaji Abba Yusuf with a prestigious award for his outstanding support in advancing grassroots information development and promoting effective governance.
The accolade was presented during the association’s annual national conference held in Abuja on September 24, which brought together representatives from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
Comrade Jibril Aliyu Bisallah, the national president of the association, explained that Governor Yusuf was selected for this honor due to the transformative and progressive measures his administration has implemented in the realm of information management at the grassroots level.
“We have observed a remarkable overhaul in Kano State’s information management system, driven by the NNPP-led government’s initiatives such as ongoing professional development, integration of information officers into recognized professional bodies, and the provision of a supportive work environment equipped with necessary tools for efficient information handling,” Comrade Bisallah remarked.
Beyond enhancing the state’s information framework, the association also applauded the government’s commitment to improving the welfare of Kano’s residents through impactful programs and extensive infrastructure projects, distinguishing the administration among its counterparts nationwide.
“Anyone acquainted with Kano can verify the widespread development efforts underway, including road construction, refurbishment of schools and hospitals, bridge repairs, and other vital infrastructure improvements across various ministries and agencies. Additionally, the administration has prioritized the growth of the civil service workforce by offering capacity-building opportunities, better welfare packages, and fostering a positive working environment,” he added.
“Given these unparalleled accomplishments, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf was the clear choice for this year’s excellence award,” Comrade Bisallah concluded.
Accepting the award on behalf of the governor, the state’s Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, expressed gratitude, emphasizing that the recognition was earned purely on merit and devoid of any bias.
