Yakubu Aiyegbeni, the former Nigerian international, has praised Super Eagles winger Ademola Lookman for his choice to stay with Atalanta.
Earlier, tensions had risen between Lookman and the club, as well as its fans, following his attempt to secure a transfer away from the team.
Despite this, the 27-year-old made a return to the squad during the 3-0 victory against Torino on September 21.
In an interview with Footy-Africa, Aiyegbeni expressed his satisfaction that the player and club have managed to reconcile their differences.
“Players often face tough moments like this,” Aiyegbeni noted. “When a transfer you anticipate falls through, it can really weigh on your mindset. I admire Lookman’s patience and Atalanta’s willingness to reintegrate him into the squad.
“What truly matters is that he’s back playing, because that’s where he shines-contributing goals and influencing matches for his team.”
“Atalanta relies on him, and he, in turn, depends on the club to progress in his career. It’s encouraging to see both sides reach an understanding. I hope he rediscovers his passion for the game, maintains his concentration, and delivers the high-level performances we all expect from him.”
