The Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, has pledged to enhance the welfare of staff at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Teaching Hospital in Ogbomoso following his recent visit to the facility.

In a post on his official Facebook page on Tuesday evening, Governor Makinde revealed that he engaged directly with healthcare workers to understand their concerns and is dedicated to resolving the critical challenges facing the tertiary institution.

“Today, I visited the LAUTECH Teaching Hospital in Ogbomoso to meet with the health personnel. After hearing their concerns, I committed to addressing the issues they raised,” he stated.

He assured that a Governing Council would be established “by the end of this week” to steer the hospital’s strategic direction. Additionally, the governor announced an increase in the hospital’s monthly funding and introduced a new monthly allowance of ₦80,000 for 65 security staff who are currently not on the hospital payroll. These security personnel will be formally incorporated into the hospital’s workforce as ad-hoc employees.

Regarding infrastructure development, Governor Makinde vowed to finalize the construction of the LAUTECH Teaching Hospital Annex located in Oyo town before his tenure concludes.

He also revealed plans to clear outstanding financial obligations, including promotion arrears from 2018 to 2024, which will be disbursed in three installments between October and December 2025. Likewise, arrears related to the new minimum wage from January to August 2025 are slated for settlement within the same timeframe.

Governor Makinde emphasized that “additional concerns raised will be managed by the Governing Council once it is operational.”

During his visit to Ogbomoso, the governor and his team paid respects to the Soun of Ogbomoso, His Imperial Majesty Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, Orumogege III. He expressed gratitude for the warm reception and hinted at forthcoming infrastructure initiatives in the historic town.

“I informed Kabiyesi that we plan to begin work on feeder roads in Ogbomoso within the next six weeks. We also aim to repair several feeder roads in the Oyo Zone before the end of our administration,” Governor Makinde announced.
