Ruben Amorim, the manager of Manchester United, has urged his squad to elevate their performance levels if they aim to turn around the club’s current struggles.
The Portuguese coach is facing significant scrutiny after a disappointing start to the Premier League season, with the team securing only two victories, one draw, and suffering three losses in their first six matches.
In an interview with TNT, Amorim highlighted the potential impact of Cunha in motivating the Red Devils.
“Many of our players have been with the club for several years, and the difficulties we’re facing weigh heavily on everyone’s mind.
“It’s not solely about having leaders; while leadership is important, I believe we’re missing a certain kind of fearless spirit,” he explained.
“Cunha embodies that mentality. He’s a solid individual who doesn’t concern himself with status or reputation.
“He’s versatile on the pitch and isn’t afraid to take the initiative with the ball. That kind of attitude is exactly what we need. Previously, with Harry Maguire as captain and a national team player, there were moments when the team’s morale dipped during tough times.
“Whether it was Bruno or Harry, those days are behind us now. Our focus must be on moving forward.”
