Renowned content creators MC Mbakara and his wife, Lolo Mbakara, courageously revealed the emotional challenges they have faced while raising their daughter who lives with cerebral palsy, shedding light on the prejudices often linked to the condition.
In a touching video shared on their Instagram account, the couple, who recently celebrated their wedding anniversary, recounted the difficult path that began with the birth of their first child.
Lolo shared that her pregnancy was uneventful, with consistent prenatal checkups and ultrasounds indicating no issues. However, complications arose during labor when the baby became lodged, making delivery extremely challenging. Although she eventually gave birth, their newborn had severe breathing difficulties.
She explained that the hospital where she delivered was ill-equipped, lacking oxygen supplies, which forced them to transfer to another medical center. Unfortunately, upon arrival, they experienced a delay of over 30 minutes before receiving care because the staff insisted on completing administrative registration first.
Once attended to, they were referred to a third hospital where their daughter was placed on oxygen support for a week. Subsequent medical scans delivered heartbreaking news. Lolo revealed that a trainee doctor even suggested discontinuing oxygen to allow their baby to “rest in peace,” implying it would bring relief to the family as well.
Rejecting this heartbreaking advice, the couple chose to remain hopeful and committed to their daughter’s care, holding onto faith for a miracle.
Affectionately known as Eke Mama, their daughter has lived with cerebral palsy since birth. MC Mbakara emotionally shared that she spends nearly the entire day asleep, approximately 99% of her time, highlighting the profound impact of her condition over her nine years.
