In a landmark achievement, Morocco’s Junior Atlas Lions triumphed over Argentina with a 2-0 scoreline to claim their inaugural FIFA U-20 World Cup title.
The final, held on Monday morning (Nigeria time) in Chile, featured a standout performance from Yassir Zabiri, who netted both goals. He opened the scoring with a penalty in the 12th minute and secured the win by adding a second goal in the 29th minute.
This victory marks Morocco as the first African team to lift the U-20 World Cup trophy since Ghana’s success in 2009.

On another note, Colombia clinched third place by edging out France 1-0 in the playoff match on Saturday.
Apart from Morocco, Africa was represented by Nigeria’s Flying Eagles, South Africa, and Egypt in this year’s competition.
The Nigerian squad’s journey ended in the round of 16 after being eliminated by the eventual finalists, Argentina.
