Myleene Klass, the well-known TV and radio host and former pop singer, recounted to a jury the overwhelming fear and violation she experienced after receiving threatening packages through the mail. These included an air pistol, handcuffs, and a police uniform, allegedly sent by a stalker.
Klass was testifying against Peter Windsor, 61, from Stechford, Birmingham, who faces accusations of stalking both her and fellow Classic FM presenter Katie Breathwick between 2020 and 2024. The items were reportedly sent to the radio station’s central London studios. Windsor denies all allegations.
During her testimony at Birmingham Crown Court, Klass was protected from Windsor’s direct view by a screen. She became visibly distressed when questioned about being informed that Royal Mail had intercepted an air pistol addressed to her.
The 47-year-old presenter described the situation as “extreme in every aspect” after security personnel at her workplace alerted her to the packages sent by Windsor.
Evidence presented in court revealed that Windsor had sent Klass a note labeling her a “naughty vixen” and wrote to Breathwick expressing a desire to go paddling with both women while enjoying champagne.
Klass explained that she was shown a detailed inventory and photographs of some of the letters only after being informed about the mail, as her employers had initially withheld the information to prevent causing her distress.
When questioned by prosecutor Timothy Sapwell, Klass stated, “It quickly became apparent that the items were highly volatile. The scale of escalation was shocking.”
She added, “Receiving all this information at once was overwhelming and genuinely frightening.”
Summarizing the overall impact of the items, Klass described the experience as “deeply unsettling” and said, “It felt like a profound invasion of my personal space-pure terror.”
Asked about her reaction when a police officer informed her in September last year that Royal Mail had intercepted an air gun addressed to her, Klass recounted, “The officer explained that although the gun didn’t require a license here, at close range-up to six feet-it could be lethal, and the police were treating it with utmost seriousness.”
She continued, “I was utterly shocked; suddenly, the threat felt very real.”
Klass emphasized, “There was no ambiguity about the intent. It was a gun in a box with my name clearly on it.”
Klass first rose to fame in 2001 as part of the pop group Hear’Say, formed on the ITV reality series Popstars. She has been a Classic FM presenter for nearly two decades, won the all-star edition of I’m a Celebrity in 2023, and regularly appears as a panelist on Loose Women.
On Tuesday, Breathwick described her distress upon receiving a letter containing instructions for a DIY will-writing kit, along with other erratic and disturbing correspondence from Windsor, which left her fearing for her safety.
In his opening statement on Monday, prosecutor Sapwell told the court that the alleged conduct had caused both women to feel anxious about everyday activities, such as simply going to work.
He noted, “Windsor’s defense claims his actions do not constitute stalking. He argues that neither woman asked him to stop and suggests the allegations are a publicity stunt.”
Windsor faces two charges of stalking causing serious alarm or distress, which he denies.
The trial is ongoing.
