Mrs. Msurshima Chenge, Managing Director of Fortham Publishers Limited, has lauded Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady of Nigeria, for her groundbreaking and visionary commitment to advancing the nation’s education sector.
This praise comes in light of the First Lady’s recent revelation that the “Oluremi @65 Education Fund” has successfully mobilized over ₦20 billion. The fund was established as an alternative to traditional birthday gifts during her 65th birthday celebrations.
Coordinated by the Federal Ministry of Education, this initiative is focused on reviving and completing the long-stalled National Library project in Abuja, a critical resource for Nigeria’s intellectual growth.
In a press release issued yesterday in Abuja, Mrs. Chenge described the fund as a courageous and timely intervention designed to enhance Nigeria’s intellectual resources and rekindle a passion for reading nationwide.
“I commend Her Excellency for this visionary and altruistic act. She has redirected attention to education, illuminating it with a brilliance that cannot be dimmed, especially at a moment when it is most crucial,” Chenge remarked.
“Women are the pillars of society-they nurture, build, sustain, and restore. This is precisely the legacy she is crafting for our country. She has demonstrated that authentic leadership transcends personal accolades and is about creating enduring legacies that benefit generations to come.”
As a dedicated advocate for education and author of more than 19 books, Mrs. Chenge also founded the Prudent Women Organization, which empowers Nigerian women spiritually, financially, emotionally, and socially.
She seized this moment to urge Nigerians-whether individuals, organizations, or corporations-to follow the First Lady’s lead by investing more substantially in education and knowledge acquisition.
“Investing in books and education is an investment that never depreciates. Yet, we often limit ourselves to purchasing only school-mandated textbooks while freely spending on apparel and other luxuries,” she observed.
“Education is the foundation of our collective progress as a people and as a nation. We must recognize the true value of knowledge-it is an enduring form of wealth.”
Leading one of Abuja’s foremost publishing houses, Fortham Publishers Limited, Mrs. Chenge reaffirmed her company’s dedication to promoting literacy through initiatives such as library development, school reading programs, and community engagement.
She concluded by stressing that the First Lady’s efforts should ignite a nationwide reflection and a renewed dedication to educational progress.
“Her Excellency’s actions go beyond symbolism-they are strategic and impactful. She has taken a significant stride in nation-building, and it is imperative that we harness this momentum to foster lasting improvements in how we educate and empower our citizens.”
