Dr. Luka Panya, the Etsu Karu of Nasarawa State, has urged Nigerians to embrace unity and foster mutual respect beyond ethnic and religious boundaries.
Following the recent installation of Chief Isa Dafor as the Wakili Ptil Marghi Karu by senior palace officials, the monarch emphasized the importance of Nigerians feeling a sense of belonging wherever they reside within the country.

The traditional ruler highlighted that Karu local government area, which shares a boundary with the Federal Capital Territory, has witnessed remarkable growth and development, largely due to its inclusive approach welcoming people from diverse backgrounds.
He noted that appointing Isa Dafor as the Wakili Ptil Marghi Karu aligns with the ongoing effort to collaborate with leaders from various ethnic groups such as Yoruba, Igala, Tiv, Idoma, Hausa, and Igbo within his jurisdiction, aiming to strengthen unity and social cohesion.
He remarked, “No resident here is regarded as an outsider.

Instead, we view everyone as collaborators. I encourage all community leaders to embrace every individual in their localities, regardless of tribal, religious, or ethnic differences. Wherever you settle is where you can contribute meaningfully to both your personal advancement and the community’s progress.

“I envision a society where people living outside their ancestral homes are welcomed and integrated as partners in their new communities. Promoting tolerance and inclusivity, irrespective of tribe or faith, is essential. This principle is already deeply rooted in our chiefdom.

“I am pleased that the Marghi community has now identified a leader who can represent their aspirations clearly. This development allows us to engage with them effectively and include them in all community development initiatives. It is a significant milestone, and I extend my congratulations to Chief Isa Dafor,

whom the people have chosen to lead. We are confident in his ability, as he has been a vital contributor to the advancement of our community.”

Chief Isa Dafor expressed his appreciation to the Etsu Karu for entrusting him with this leadership responsibility and committed to uniting the Marghi people throughout Karu council in Nasarawa State.

He stated, “Today marks a new chapter for us with a clear leader in place-myself. Together, we now have a shared vision and direction to drive the development of our people. Leadership is meaningless without followers, and when the majority come together to discuss and agree, we can chart the best path forward.”
