The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has called on all accredited higher education institutions across the country to collaborate by updating and uploading detailed student information onto the NELFUND Student Verification Portal in preparation for the 2025/2026 academic year.
In a recent announcement, NELFUND’s representative, Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, highlighted that this initiative is a forward-thinking strategy aimed at streamlining the verification and loan application procedures for students once the portal is activated.
The Fund mandates that institutions submit precise and current data for both returning and newly enrolled students, utilizing admission numbers or other reliable identifiers to ensure a seamless processing experience.
“Recognizing the pivotal contribution of tertiary institutions to the success of the Education Loan Scheme, NELFUND seeks their ongoing partnership to enhance access to higher education for qualified Nigerian students,” the statement partially noted.
Furthermore, the Fund stressed that only students whose records have been accurately uploaded and authenticated by their institutions will be eligible to apply for the loan. Institutions are therefore urged to initiate and finalize the data upload promptly, appointing dedicated personnel to oversee the process in line with the prescribed technical standards.
“This joint effort is vital to guarantee that every deserving student is included as NELFUND prepares to launch its application portal for the upcoming academic session,” the statement concluded.
