The striker was unavailable for selection in Benin’s last game against Rwanda, but he is back for the Super Eagles game…
The Cheetas of Benin have gotten a significant boost ahead of their game against the Super Eagles of Nigeria on Tuesday, as key attacker Junior Olaitan is available for selection, Soccernet.ng reports.
Olaitan was a big doubt coming into this international break, as he was said to be injured at his club Goztepe.
This even caused issues between the Benin FA and the Turkish club, as Benin felt that he would be fit enough to play against Nigeria. As such, Olaitan missed their 1-0 win over Rwanda last Friday, and his status was still uncertain.
However, his situation has now been resolved, and he was spotted in training with the rest of his Benin teammates at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium on Monday.
Per Joeuers Beninoise, Benin coach Gernot Rohr also confirmed Olaitan’s availability for the fixture.

The Goztepe striker’s availability is a big boost for the Cheetahs, as he is one of the best and most promising players from the country.
The 23-year-old earned his national team debut in 2021, and he has gone on to earn 34 caps for Benin, with five goals to his name.
Junior Olaitan Will Be A Big Threat To The Super Eagles
The last time Nigeria faced Benin, it ended in a 1-1 stalemate, and Olaitan provided the assist for Benin’s only goal.

He is one of the very few outlets for Benin. The 23-year-old is quick, tricky, and physical. Rohr will be planning to use his pace against Nigeria.
Olaitan will be looking to pounce on the second balls whenever William Troost-Ekong contests for aerial balls with Steve Mounie.

The Super Eagles will have to be careful to not give him space to explore, as it could have dire consequences.
