Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, the Chief Justice of Nigeria, has praised the National Association of Judges of Nigeria following its acceptance as a member of the International Association of Judges (IAJ).
This significant milestone occurred during the 67th Annual Meeting of the IAJ, which took place in Baku, Azerbaijan.
In a statement released by Mr. Tobi Soniyi, the media aide to the CJN, Nigeria’s inclusion in this prestigious international organization reflects global trust and acknowledgment of the country’s judicial system.
Justice Kekere-Ekun expressed that this achievement is a source of national pride, marking Nigeria’s entry into a worldwide network of judges dedicated to upholding judicial independence, the rule of law, and human rights protection.
She remarked, “Nigeria accepts this membership with great humility and a strong sense of duty.
“We fully embrace the principles championed by the association and are eager to play an active role in advancing its objectives.
“Our commitment remains firm in enhancing the autonomy of our judiciary, safeguarding the rule of law, and promoting the protection of human rights throughout our nation.”
