Engineer Musa Nimrod has secured a third consecutive term as President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), reaffirming his leadership in the sport’s national governance.

The election, held yesterday at the Indoor Sports Hall within Package B of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja, was marked by a composed yet competitive atmosphere. Nimrod, hailing from Adamawa, was re-elected without opposition for another four-year tenure.

Since first taking office in 2017 and winning a second term in 2021, Nimrod has garnered unanimous support, receiving all 16 votes cast during the electoral process. This decisive victory is widely interpreted as a strong endorsement to continue driving the growth and modernization of volleyball across Nigeria.

In other key appointments, Prince Babatunde Omisore was chosen as First Vice President, while Architect Adamu Tenimu assumed the role of Second Vice President. Nimrod also retained his position as the North West zonal representative on the NVBF board. The full roster of zonal representatives includes DCP Stephen Hasso (Rtd) for the North East, Bolcit Amakiri for the North Central, Prince Babatunde Omisore for the South West, Kingsley Nwosu for the South East, Famous Daunemigha for the South South, Dauda Saje representing players, Samuel Timothy as the technical delegate, and Comptroller Frank Onyeka serving as the sponsor representative.

Following his re-election, Nimrod revealed plans to launch innovative programs aimed at elevating volleyball’s stature nationwide. “Our journey doesn’t end with past successes; we are gearing up for the future. The next four years will prioritize nurturing talent from the grassroots level,” he affirmed.

He highlighted the establishment of clear development pathways for athletes spanning from under-15 categories to senior teams, ensuring a structured progression system.

Additionally, Nimrod emphasized the reinforcement of major volleyball tours through the involvement of seasoned coaches and mentors, alongside efforts to attract new sponsorships to support the federation’s expanding initiatives.

The NVBF’s schedule for the upcoming months is packed with international engagements. Nigerian squads are set to compete in the U-21 Volleyball Championship in Mexico, the U-18 World Championship in Qatar, the Senior World Volleyball Championship in Australia, and the African Youth Games in Angola. Furthermore, Nigerian players will participate in the World Schools Games hosted in China.

“With the electoral process behind us, our attention now shifts to implementation. We await the official swearing-in by the National Sports Commission, after which the newly formed board will begin its full range of activities,” Nimrod concluded.
