- Prominent Nigerian socialite Cubana Chief Priest is currently engaged in a heated online dispute with billionaire Cosmos Maduka.
- The disagreement stems from Maduka’s critique of Cubana Chief Priest’s well-known catchphrase, “money na water.”
- Maduka argued that no authentic wealthy individual would adopt such a slogan, igniting the ongoing controversy.
Pascal Okechukwu, widely recognized as Cubana Chief Priest, a notable figure in Nigeria’s social and business circles, has intensified his online clash with billionaire Cosmos Maduka following remarks about his signature phrase.
At a recent event, Maduka expressed that the phrase “money na water” is not something a genuinely affluent person would use.
In response, Cubana Chief Priest posted a sharp rebuttal, urging Maduka to refrain from aligning himself with established tycoons like Femi Otedola and Aliko Dangote, implying that Maduka belongs to a different echelon.
Defending his slogan, the nightlife entrepreneur elaborated that “money na water” represents a mindset of abundance and the continuous, flowing nature of wealth.
He explained:
“Respectfully, to the older generation of motivational speakers who quietly amassed wealth, the environment you thrived in has evolved. Previously, capital meant factories, fleets, and real estate. Today, the primary asset is attention. Without visibility, these traditional capitals cannot thrive in the current market.”
“Visibility is the new currency. In the digital age, being unknown equates to financial ruin. What remains unseen doesn’t sell; what isn’t amplified fades away. We create the buzz, which is why you reference us in your speeches to gain traction without compensating us. That’s why you avoid showing genuine appreciation. Tell me, why would a billionaire pretend to excuse himself just to escape an event? That’s a lot of effort for someone truly wealthy.”
