Kim Jong Un vows to counteract the expansion of US military presence on the Korean Peninsula.

In anticipation of a significant national celebration, North Korea’s supreme leader Kim Jong Un has declared plans to enhance military capabilities and deploy additional strategic resources in response to the increasing US military presence in South Korea.
According to a statement released by the state-run KCNA on Sunday, Kim emphasized, “Our strategic interests in the region have escalated in direct correlation with the US military buildup in South Korea, prompting us to assign specialized assets to critical targets.”

Speaking at a military exhibition ahead of the upcoming parade, Kim warned, “Our adversaries should be wary of the shifting dynamics in their security environment.” He further asserted that North Korea “will unquestionably implement additional military strategies” to counter the US forces’ expansion, though he refrained from providing specific details.

The grand military parade, scheduled for October 10, will commemorate the 80th anniversary of the ruling Workers’ Party of Korea. This event is expected to feature a display of North Korea’s most advanced weaponry and military technology.
Analysts cited by South Korea’s Yonhap news agency suggest that Pyongyang might unveil the next-generation Hwasong-20 intercontinental ballistic missile during the festivities. There is also speculation that the regime could conduct a test launch of this missile around the anniversary date.
Yonhap further reported that South Korean military intelligence has observed preparations for the parade, including the mobilization of tens of thousands of participants and the movement of military vehicles and equipment, though detailed information remains undisclosed.
Despite overtures from US President Donald Trump and Seoul towards diplomatic engagement, Kim continues to adopt a confrontational stance against South Korea and its key ally, the United States.
Since assuming office in June, South Korean President Lee Jae-myung has pledged a more conciliatory approach toward Pyongyang, contrasting with the more aggressive policies of his predecessor, Yoon Suk-yeol.
Meanwhile, North Korea has been strengthening its military cooperation with Russia, actively supporting President Vladimir Putin’s military campaign in Ukraine by dispatching troops and artillery units.
Additionally, Kim has been cultivating closer ties with China, recently attending a military parade in Beijing alongside Chinese leader Xi Jinping and Putin, commemorating the 80th anniversary of the conclusion of World War II.
