The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) representing the 19 Northern States and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has mourned the loss of the ukpai-true-servant-god-humanity-tinubu/” title=”Tinubu Honors … as a Devoted Servant of God and Humanity”>esteemed evangelist and founder of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, Rev. Uma Ukpai.
According to Northern CAN, Rev. Ukpai was a boundary-defying preacher whose evangelistic efforts, especially his renowned One Million Man Crusades, sparked spiritual revival and healing across numerous northern Nigerian communities.
In an official condolence statement signed by its chairman, Rev. Joseph John Hayab, the organization highlighted that Dr. Ukpai’s ministry went beyond denominational lines, profoundly impacting lives and fostering unity among Christians nationwide.
Hayab emphasized that the evangelist conducted several large-scale crusades in the North, drawing vast audiences and generating countless accounts of both spiritual breakthroughs and physical recoveries.
“The impact of his One Million Man Crusades in northern Nigeria is still palpable. Many individuals embraced Christ, witnessed miracles, and experienced healing. He preached without regard to national or regional divisions.”
Northern CAN also fondly remembered the warm reception Rev. Ukpai received from former Kaduna State governor Ahmed Makarfi during one of his visits, underscoring the evangelist’s broad acceptance and significant moral influence.
“He earned widespread respect for the divine work accomplished through his ministry. The North, and indeed all of Nigeria, has lost a devoted servant of God whose inspiring voice of faith and hope will be deeply missed.”
The association encouraged Christians to honor the legacy and impactful ministry of the late evangelist with joy and gratitude, rather than despair, affirming that Dr. Ukpai “completed his earthly mission faithfully and has now joined the Lord he served with unwavering dedication.”
Northern CAN offered heartfelt sympathies to the Ukpai family, the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, and the broader Christian community, praying for God’s comfort and the ongoing advancement of the evangelistic vision he championed.
