Kun Khalifat is set to welcome Enyimba of Aba for the highly anticipated NPFL Matchday 8 Oriental Derby, scheduled to take place at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri this Sunday. Although Kun Khalifat, a newly promoted side, has been hosting their home fixtures at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba throughout the 2025/2026 NPFL season, this particular encounter will mark a return to their traditional home ground.
This shift sees the match relocated to Owerri, the historic base of the Imolites, where Kun Khalifat previously held their home games during the 2024/2025 Nigeria National League (NNL) campaign. The decision to move the fixture back to Owerri was confirmed by Ifeanyi Anaemena, the club’s Sporting Director and former Super Eagles defender, in an exclusive statement to Completesports.com.
“Our upcoming home fixture against Enyimba will be staged at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri,” Anaemena revealed. “While we have played our home matches in Aba since the season’s start, this game marks our return to Owerri.”
He further emphasized the significance of the match, labeling it as another thrilling chapter in the Oriental Derby saga, following their earlier draw against Rangers International in Enugu. “Indeed, this is a major Oriental Derby. Our first clash of the season against Rangers in Enugu ended in a stalemate,” Anaemena noted.
“Now, with all arrangements finalized alongside the Imo State Sports Commission, the Nigeria Football Federation, and other key stakeholders, we are ready to host our home games at Dan Anyiam Stadium once again.”
Appealing to the club’s fanbase, Anaemena urged supporters to turn out in full force to inspire the team. “We call on our passionate fans to fill the stands and rally behind the team. Their encouragement is vital to creating a memorable day and securing a positive result,” he said.
“Our goal is to bring joy to the Imolites with a strong performance, and we need the backing of our supporters in large numbers to make this happen.”
