The Ogun State government has reiterated its commitment to establishing the state as Nigeria’s leading regional transportation nexus through targeted infrastructure development.

During a town hall meeting focused on the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and the 2026 Budget for the Remo Division, held at the Akarigbo Palace in Ita-Oba, Sagamu, Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun emphasized this vision.

Speaking through the commissioner for finance and chief economic adviser, Mr. Dapo Okubadejo, the governor highlighted the administration’s proactive and strategic approach to infrastructure enhancement.

He revealed that the government has allocated 130 hectares of land for the establishment of a new Inland Dry Port, strategically designed to link the Lekki Deep Sea Port with the Kajola Dry Port, thereby strengthening regional logistics.

This initiative complements the state’s flagship Gateway International Airport project, which recently began commercial operations. Governor Abiodun described this achievement as a pivotal development set to stimulate economic expansion, create jobs, and elevate Ogun’s status as a key aviation and transport center in the region.

“These infrastructure projects will facilitate smoother travel, improve connectivity, and invigorate economic activities within and beyond Ogun State,” he remarked.

Beyond transportation, the governor also pointed to significant progress in sectors such as road construction, healthcare, housing, and education.

Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Mr. Olaolu Olabimtan, underscored the importance of the forum as a platform for citizen engagement, transparency, and accountability, reinforcing the government’s conviction that public participation is fundamental to effective governance and development.

He urged residents of the Senatorial District to actively share their insights and proposals during the budget formulation process, assuring that these contributions will shape policy decisions and ensure equitable development at the grassroots level.

In his address, Oba Babatunde Ajayi, the Akarigbo and paramount ruler of Remo land, praised the Ogun State government for its extensive developmental efforts across the division and the entire state. He expressed gratitude for the governor’s visionary leadership and community-focused policies that have positively transformed lives.

The paramount ruler highlighted the pride of the Remo people in the governor’s accomplishments, particularly the successful launch of the Gateway International Airport, which has positioned Ogun State as a magnet for economic growth and investment.
