According to a recent survey conducted by EFInA, an organization championing financial inclusion, nearly 50% of Nigerian adults have failed to make at least one essential utility or service payment within the last year. In response to this prevalent challenge, OnePipe has introduced an innovative payment scheduling feature on its PaywithAccount platform, allowing Nigerians to automate payments for vital services such as electricity bills, airtime, and mobile data subscriptions.
This newly launched scheduling tool was developed to meet the growing demand for hassle-free payment solutions. It enables users to set up automatic recurring payments directly from their bank accounts via paywithaccount.com, eliminating the need for manual intervention.
The feature aims to alleviate the burden on consumers who often juggle multiple payment deadlines, which can lead to service interruptions, late fees, and financial stress when payments are missed or delayed.
Data from a recent Nairametrics study reveals that almost half of urban Nigerians surveyed have experienced interruptions in essential services due to overlooked or postponed payments. Many depend on memory or manual reminders, which frequently prove unreliable.
Akin Olunloye, Product Manager at PaywithAccount, explained the motivation behind the new feature: “The pressure of managing monthly bills has become overwhelming for many Nigerians. Our scheduling function is designed to automate these payments, ensuring consistency and peace of mind for users.”

Early users who trialed the service prior to its official rollout have praised its convenience. Chinyere, a Lagos-based attorney, shared, “Electricity bill payments used to be a constant source of frustration in my home. Automating them through PaywithAccount has completely changed that. I receive instant notifications and receipts via WhatsApp, which has been incredibly helpful.”
Sodiq, a digital marketing professional, also commented, “I manage numerous payments monthly for both my family and business. Automating these through PaywithAccount means I no longer worry about missed deadlines, even when I’m busy or traveling. It has truly streamlined my financial management.”
Currently, PaywithAccount’s automated scheduling supports major electricity distribution companies such as Eko, Ikeja, Abuja, and Ibadan, alongside all leading mobile network providers including MTN, Airtel, Glo, and 9Mobile. Plans are underway to expand the service to cover other payment categories like cooperative society contributions and insurance premiums.
OnePipe’s PaywithAccount remains committed to addressing the financial challenges faced by Nigerians by delivering secure, user-friendly payment solutions that integrate smoothly into daily routines.
