The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State’s Ife Federal Constituency has officially expressed a vote of no confidence against the Deputy Governor, Mr. Kola Adewusi, citing alleged activities that undermine the party’s interests.
According to a statement released on Tuesday in Osogbo and signed by the PDP Financial Secretary for the constituency, Adesoji Adegoke, alongside former Deputy Speaker Ropo Oyewale and 27 other pdp-and-nnpp-supporters-decamp-to-adc-in-katsina/” title=”APC, … and NNPP supporters decamp to ADC in Katsina”>party members, the party also withdrew confidence from former National Secretary, Prof. Wale Oladipo, due to his reported associations with opposition figures.
The party officials criticized both Adewusi and Oladipo for reportedly engaging in meetings with Taofeek Ajilesoro, the current House of Representatives member for Ife, who recently switched allegiance to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Additionally, the PDP members expressed dissatisfaction with the leadership of the party Chairman in Ife East Local Government, Mr. Olasunkanmi Makinde, stating a loss of trust in his stewardship.
In response, Prof. Oladipo dismissed the claims during a media interview, labeling the group behind the vote as inconsequential and lacking legitimate authority within the party.
“These individuals are mere pretenders who hardly represent the true PDP membership in Ife. As a native of Ife, I would never act against the interests of my community,” Oladipo asserted.
“Our responsibility, including that of the deputy governor and myself, is to unite and expand our party’s base, not to create divisions,” he added.
He further challenged those who passed the vote of no confidence to publicly justify their decision before the press.
Meanwhile, the PDP State Chairman, Mr. Sunday Bisi, urged all parties involved to uphold the current situation and adhere to the party’s established conflict resolution procedures.
In an official statement, Bisi called on all stakeholders within the Ife Federal Constituency to halt any actions that might exacerbate tensions and disrupt party unity.
