During a recent gathering of key stakeholders in Ado-Ekiti, Awe highlighted that the state’s principal opposition parties-the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC)-appear to be, either overtly or covertly, supporting Governor Oyebanji’s continuation in office.
He emphasized that the APC remains the dominant and unified political force within Ekiti, while rival parties have effectively become extensions of the ruling party’s influence.
“It is widely recognized that former Governor Kayode Fayemi, who is reportedly linked with the ADC, has publicly thrown his weight behind Governor Oyebanji,” Awe remarked.
The APC leader also pointed out the strong and amicable relationship between Fayemi and Oyebanji, describing the current governor as a political protégé who continues to benefit from Fayemi’s unwavering backing.
Moreover, Awe asserted that former Governor Ayodele Fayose is also lending his support to Oyebanji, noting that the PDP stalwart has endorsed the governor and mobilized his followers to ensure Oyebanji’s successful re-election campaign. With the combined endorsement of both Fayemi and Fayose, Awe concluded that genuine opposition to Governor Oyebanji in Ekiti State is virtually nonexistent.
