- Evangelist Isaac Josiah, the lead pastor of Reclaimers Ministry in Benin City, has ignited controversy after a video circulated online showing him distributing bras, wrappers, and pyjamas during a church service. He vowed to address what he perceives as inappropriate attire among congregants, warning, “If we can’t transform you here, find another church.”
Isaac Josiah, who shepherds the congregation at Reclaimers Ministry in Edo State’s Benin City, has provoked strong reactions after a Facebook video went viral. The footage captures him distributing undergarments and modest clothing items during a service, aiming to curb what he labels as “improper dressing” among church members.
Addressing the congregation, he remarked, “In the past, when a believer said, ‘It’s twelve o’clock,’ it was about the spirit within. A sincere heart wouldn’t choose attire that tempts others during worship. Ushers, bring my tools.”
He then instructed the ushers, “Brothers Osase, Eric, and Chimere, stationed at the entrance, from now on, any woman entering with visible nipples will be offered a bra. We recognize that some may not afford one, so the church will provide it. If we fail to guide you here, seek fellowship elsewhere. I’m a young man striving for heaven.”
Further emphasizing discipline, he added, “Should a sister refuse the bra, summon her and ask, ‘How much is a tricycle ride home?’ Brothers Eric, Osase, and Chimere, you are hereby appointed as the church’s enforcers.”
Josiah also called for a variety of bra sizes to be available, saying, “If God blesses you, we’ll need different sizes. Blessings to the usher team. Additionally, if a woman wears a bra but her outfit remains inappropriate, offer her a white wrapper. We seek purity in our church. For those arriving in mini skirts or men without belts, provide them with white pyjamas.”
He criticized revealing clothing, stating, “Many pastors won’t confront this, but if we can’t correct you here, find another church. When we worship, some men struggle because their attention is drawn to breasts and buttocks, not the person.”
Josiah also urged ushers to protect nursing mothers, explaining, “A nursing mother’s body is private and should not be exposed publicly.”
He continued, “If you come to church with a tight top showing your back, or if a man arrives without a belt, we will provide one. Next week, we’ll supply belts. Tell them, ‘Brothers, this is for you to wear as Reclaimers, to help reclaim the world.’ For mothers, breasts are for their families. If exposed, cover them with a wrapper, not just a handkerchief.”
Josiah concluded firmly, “We are serious about this. I won’t tolerate such behavior again because we are raising disciplined followers. If you want a place to dress however you like, this isn’t the church for you. You can find another.”
