In August 2025, Paystack, a leading fintech firm, topped the list as the most frequented banking website by Nigerian users, attracting 2.39 million visits. This insight comes from Semrush, a platform specializing in online visibility analytics.
The monthly statistics encompass visits from both mobile and desktop devices. Paystack experienced a 21.59% increase in visits month-over-month (MoM), with 2.06 million from mobile users and 321,000 from desktop. However, when compared year-over-year (YoY), the platform saw an 18.04% decline in traffic.
Operating across seven African nations-including Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, and Rwanda-Paystack has solidified its position as a fintech powerhouse on the continent. Recently, it collaborated with the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) to launch a cashless payment system, streamlining airport access fee transactions.

Trailing Paystack in the banking sector is United Bank for Africa (UBA), which recorded 1.58 million visits from Nigerian users in August 2025. Mobile devices accounted for over 90% of these visits, while desktop users made up just 6.26%. UBA posted growth both MoM (11.4%) and YoY (2.31%).
Interestingly, Wise, an international money transfer service, secured the third spot with 973,000 visits. Zenith Bank and GTBank followed, ranking fourth and fifth with 884,000 and 666,000 visits respectively.
Other notable banking websites rounding out the top ten include:
- Access Bank – 648,000 visits
- First Bank – 626,000 visits
- Interswitch – 355,000 visits
- Xe – 290,000 visits
- FCMB – 268,000 visits
Telecommunications
Within the telecom sector, 5sim emerged as the most visited site by Nigerian internet users, amassing 3.34 million visits. Popular especially among younger demographics, 5sim offers temporary virtual phone numbers primarily used for SMS verification.
The platform’s impressive growth includes a staggering 369% YoY increase and a 16.15% rise MoM. Of the total visits, 2.25 million came from mobile devices, while desktop users contributed 1.09 million.

Following 5sim is Fast, an internet speed testing platform, which attracted 1.35 million visits in August. Its strong showing reflects ongoing challenges with network reliability in Nigeria. Fast’s traffic was nearly evenly split between mobile (710,000) and desktop (641,000) users.
Samsung, the global tech and smartphone manufacturer, ranked third with 984,000 visits. Airtel Nigeria and the National Identification Management Commission (NIMC) completed the top five with 656,000 and 588,000 visits respectively.
The remaining top ten telecom websites include:
- Receive-smss – 301,000 visits
- Quickteller – 265,000 visits
- Speedtest – 264,000 visits
- Fonearena – 243,000 visits
- Spectranet – 228,000 visits

Music Platforms
Trendybeatz, a well-known music download site, led the music category with 2.9 million visits from Nigerian users in August. Mobile devices accounted for over 95% of this traffic, while desktop visits made up just 3%. Despite its leading position, Trendybeatz experienced declines both MoM (-19.56%) and YoY (-12.54%).

Spotify, the Swedish streaming giant, followed closely with 2.72 million visits, split between 1.58 million mobile and 1.14 million desktop users. Boomplay ranked third, drawing 1.72 million visits, predominantly from mobile (1.47 million) with 246,000 desktop visits.
Other popular platforms in the top five include Ceenaija and Audiomack, which recorded 1.66 million and 1.3 million visits respectively.

- SoundCloud – 1.04 million visits
- Naijarocks – 934,000 visits
- Mdundo – 315,000 visits
- Tooxclusive – 298,000 visits
- Shazam – 231,000 visits
TV and Film
This category recorded relatively modest traffic, with KinoCheck leading at 440,000 visits. Known for its movie trailers, KinoCheck saw significant growth both MoM (68%) and YoY (54%).
Other platforms in this segment include No Film School with 60,000 visits, followed by Film House (34,000), City on Fire (27,000), and 123 Movies (25,000).
Overall Website Traffic
Across all sectors, Google dominated Nigerian web traffic with 392.91 million visits in August 2025, according to Semrush data. Globally recognized as the leading search engine, Google’s visits comprised 319.27 million from mobile devices and 73.64 million from desktops. However, it experienced slight declines MoM (-3.56%) and YoY (-2.07%).

YouTube ranked second with 54.31 million visits, showing a strong desktop presence (28.28 million) alongside 26.03 million mobile visits. The platform’s traffic increased by 8.03% MoM and 5.53% YoY.
Sportybet, a popular sports betting site, came third with 53.66 million visits, highlighting the growing influence of sports wagering in Nigeria and Africa. Mobile users accounted for 97% (52.21 million) of visits, with desktop visits at 1.47 million.
Facebook, owned by Meta, secured fourth place with 51.47 million visits, maintaining its status as a leading social media platform. Visits were nearly evenly split between mobile (25 million) and desktop (26.47 million).
Rounding out the top five was adult content site Xvideo, which attracted 42.05 million visits, 98% of which came from mobile devices. The site saw modest growth MoM (1.38%) and YoY (1.47%).

- Bet9ja – 26.52 million visits
- X (formerly Twitter) – 25.88 million visits
- Xnxx – 18.99 million visits
- Etherealweb – 18.96 million visits

Additionally, platforms such as Instagram, Flashscore, WhatsApp, Livescores, and TikTok secured places within the top 20 most visited websites in Nigeria.
