Prince Andrew to Be Summoned by US Congress Committee for Testimony on Jeffrey Epstein Case

Prince Andrew is expected to be called upon to provide testimony regarding his connections to Jeffrey Epstein before a United States congressional committee. Stephen Lynch, a prominent member of the US House Oversight Committee, expressed his intent to question the King’s sibling about his role in the ongoing investigation. The Democratic lawmaker conveyed confidence that an official request for Andrew’s participation would be extended, focusing on his relationship with the deceased American financier and convicted sex offender.

However, as a British national, the 65-year-old royal cannot be compelled by subpoena to appear, making his cooperation voluntary. The spotlight on Prince Andrew’s association with Epstein has intensified recently, especially following the release of Virginia Giuffre’s posthumous memoir, which revisits her allegations against him. Lynch’s committee is currently delving into the explosive documents dubbed the “Epstein files,” and Andrew’s name resurfaced prominently in the latest batch of papers linked to Epstein’s estate, published last Friday.

During an interview on BBC’s Newsnight, presenter Victoria Derbyshire asked Lynch if the committee planned to invite Prince Andrew to testify. He responded affirmatively, stating, “We are very eager to hear from Prince Andrew about his involvement in these matters.” When pressed on whether an invitation would be formally issued, Lynch replied, “I am confident that we will extend that invitation. We have already interviewed several survivors, many of whom share a close connection with Virginia Giuffre, and her memoirs have only deepened that bond.”

Lynch emphasized that the bipartisan committee members, moved by the suffering endured by the victims, are increasingly determined to hear from all individuals connected to the case. Derbyshire also referenced committee chair James Comer’s intention to seek testimony from former US President Bill Clinton due to his ties to Epstein. Lynch acknowledged Clinton as a potential witness, noting, “If he possesses relevant information, we would welcome his input. We understand his involvement was limited to a humanitarian flight, but anyone linked to this case is of interest to us.”

In a separate segment, Derbyshire interviewed Annie Farmer, a survivor of Epstein and former partner of Ghislaine Maxwell. Farmer and her sister Maria were among the earliest to report abuse to authorities back in 1996. When asked if Prince Andrew should come forward with information, Farmer expressed skepticism but also hope: “I’m not holding my breath, given the time he’s had to share what he knows. Yet, this moment presents an opportunity. If he truly wants to support Virginia and the other survivors, he could choose to disclose any helpful information.”

Farmer further remarked on the influence of powerful figures implicated in the scandal, stating, “We know that those with power often shield one another. However, the survivors and their advocates demanding justice will not be silenced. More revelations are bound to emerge as the pursuit of accountability continues.”
