Hon. (Dr.) Mai Mala Buni, the Governor of Yobe State, has reiterated his administration’s dedication to enhancing the efficiency of the civil and public service through appointments grounded in merit and responsiveness.
This declaration was made during the official swearing-in ceremony of Abba Alhaji Mamadi as the new Grand Khadi of Yobe State, alongside five Special Advisers, a Permanent Member of the Yobe State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), and thirteen newly appointed Permanent Secretaries.
Governor Buni expressed confidence in the appointees’ qualifications, experience, and integrity, emphasizing that they represent significant assets who will elevate governance and service delivery in alignment with the administration’s core vision and objectives.
He highlighted that the Special Advisers were selected to deepen the connection between the government and the grassroots, noting that their dedication, loyalty, and community ties are essential to fulfilling the government’s mission.
Addressing the newly appointed Permanent Secretaries, the governor urged them to champion due process, demonstrate initiative, and introduce innovative approaches that will enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of public service.
“Our administration remains committed to equipping and transforming the public service to meet the growing demand for swift and impactful policy and program implementation,” he affirmed.
Governor Buni also reminded the appointees that their roles are entrusted responsibilities, and their performance will be evaluated by the public. He encouraged them to uphold principles of honesty, fairness, and justice, steering clear of political, religious, or ethnic biases.
“As public officials, you will be accountable to the people. Strive to fulfill your duties with integrity and dedication,” he advised.
On the subject of education, the governor praised the Federal Ministry of Education for acknowledging Yobe State as a benchmark among sub-national governments in foundational education. He reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to consistently providing counterpart funding to the Universal Basic Education Commission, supporting school feeding programs, and supplying instructional materials and examination fees to bolster basic education across the state.
The officials sworn in include Special Advisers Hon. Mohammed Bazam Maidoki, Mohammed Ibrahim Jalo, Hajiya Saratu Sabo, Saleh Budde Sherriff, and Kulloma Umara Mohammed. The Permanent Secretaries inducted were Abdu Shuaibu, Mai Dala Baleri Bularafa, Salamatu Yahaya Nangere, Bamai Zanna, Engr. Mai Modu Goniri, Bako Modu Kagu, Musa Garba, Abubakar Usman Kolere, Ibrahim Ali, Mohammed Annur, Abbas Isah Bizi, Mohammed Kalli, and Dr. Yusuf Idriss Madaki.
