The current location of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, remains undisclosed amid growing rumors about his potential return to Port Harcourt. Despite the political uncertainty, the state maintains a calm atmosphere, according to Friday Olokor, an Arise Television correspondent reporting from Rivers State during the Morning Show.
Rear Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, who served as the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, has officially handed over authority back to the reinstated Governor Fubara. In his concluding address to the state, Ibas appealed to the citizens to rally behind Fubara as he resumes his leadership responsibilities.
It is important to recall that President Bola Tinubu had suspended Governor Fubara six months prior, concurrently imposing an emergency rule in Rivers State. However, this emergency status was lifted on Wednesday, coinciding with Fubara’s reinstatement.

Olokor remarked: “Currently, the mood in Port Harcourt and across Rivers State is surprisingly tranquil. Although the governor’s location is still unknown, speculation suggests he may return today. Despite Rivers State’s reputation as a hotspot for political conflict, the environment is presently peaceful and stable.
“The House of Assembly is still active, albeit divided. Leadership voids are never ideal, and the governor’s absence has understandably created tension. The people are anxiously awaiting updates, as no one knows when or how the handover will fully take place.
“At this point, any statements about the governor’s return are purely speculative. The uncertainty persists, and it remains unclear if or when he will arrive.
“Given the resumption of government functions, it is expected that the Assembly members, despite their divisions, will convene separately to restore legislative processes. The state has suffered from this legislative vacuum.
“As the saying goes, when two elephants clash, it is the grass that suffers. The citizens of Rivers State have borne the brunt of this political strife. It is crucial for all parties to unite and work collaboratively to move the state forward.
“Reports indicate that the 20 APC members and the remaining three Assembly members are holding separate meetings to organize legislative activities.
“Factionalism may persist, even after elections have concluded, but the priority must be reconciliation and progress. The people of Rivers State deserve stability, and it is vital that history does not repeat itself.”
