Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State reiterated on Wednesday his administration’s unwavering dedication to safeguarding the lives and properties of all residents, emphasizing that no part of the state will serve as a refuge for criminals, including kidnappers.
He made these remarks following a security council meeting held in Ilorin, the state’s capital.
In response to the recent violent incident at Oke Ode, the governor promptly informed President Bola Tinubu, renewing his appeal for increased federal security support to dismantle criminal strongholds.
“The Army Headquarters has responded by relocating the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 2nd Division to Ilorin, enhancing the coordination and effectiveness of security operations within the state,” he explained.
“On Monday night, a joint task force comprising the Army, DSS, and Police launched a targeted operation near Baba Sango, along the Kwara-Kogi border, successfully neutralizing approximately 15 armed bandits. This offensive continued into Tuesday. Last night, I chaired the State Security Council meeting at Ahmadu Bello House, Ilorin, to synchronize federal and state security efforts into a unified strategy covering both Kwara North and South regions.”
Governor AbdulRazaq reassured the people of Kwara that his government remains steadfast in its support for security agencies to ensure the safety of every community.
“I have received firm commitments from security agencies to root out and eliminate criminal elements from their hideouts. We are prepared to combat insecurity using all available resources,” he stated.
“Kwara will never be a sanctuary for criminals. To anyone attempting to disrupt the peace of Kwara, you may flee, but justice will catch up with you. This state belongs to its citizens, and their tranquility will be fiercely protected,” the governor concluded.
