On September 6, 2025, Sebeccly Cancer Care and Support Centre marked its 19th year of dedicated service by unveiling the Donor Wall of Hope. This special tribute celebrates 19 key Friends and Families whose unwavering generosity has been instrumental in propelling the organisation’s vision and mission since its inception in 2006.
Situated at Sebeccly’s Lekki headquarters, the Donor Wall of Hope stands as a lasting testament to the commitment of diverse partners-including corporations, foundations, and individual benefactors-who share the centre’s passion for cancer care and community health.
“As we commemorate 19 years, the Donor Wall of Hope embodies our heartfelt appreciation: we remember, we honour, and we pledge to continue fostering healthier communities,” expressed Dr. Omolola Salako, Consultant Clinical Oncologist and Founder of Sebeccly.
The Donor Wall of Hope is a dynamic digital installation that immortalizes the names of donors-whether individuals, families, or corporate entities-who have contributed in various ways. This digital tribute not only honors their compassion but also broadcasts their support to a worldwide audience, symbolizing the collective force behind Sebeccly’s impactful work.
“Reflecting on nearly two decades, we recognize these 19 pillars as more than just donors,” remarked Eng. Adetoro Adeyelure, Sebeccly Board Member. “They are lifelines whose financial support, mentorship, and strategic guidance have sustained Sebeccly through challenges and empowered countless individuals to reclaim their health. Today, we celebrate them not only with a wall but through the stories of lives transformed.”
This homage honors the individuals, families, and organisations whose contributions have empowered Sebeccly to educate over 20 million people on cancer prevention, screen more than 32,000 women for breast and cervical cancers, train upwards of 200 healthcare professionals, and provide life-saving treatments valued at 500 million Naira. Additionally, Sebeccly has supported survivors, pursued a Guinness World Record for breast cancer advocacy, and launched two pioneering cancer initiatives: Oncopadi Technologies in 2017 and Pearl Oncology Specialist Hospital in 2021.
Among the distinguished 19 Friends and Families honored at the unveiling were Catherine Bickersteth, ACT Foundation, the Subair Family, Wana Udobang, the 21 Foundation, alongside Dr. Omolola Salako, Eng. Adetoro Adeyelure, Dr. Fred Omojole and Family, Hon. Dave Salako, Hansatu Adegbite, and a loving tribute to the late Omoseun Fred Omojole. During the ceremony, these honorees shared the motivations behind their support and their aspirations for the future of cancer care in Nigeria.
“My commitment to Sebeccly stems from witnessing the Founder’s visionary leadership and hands-on expertise,” shared Catherine Bickersteth.
“Sebeccly’s relentless efforts to alleviate the cancer burden and improve survival rates inspire me,” stated Eng. Adetoro Adeyelure.
“At ACT Foundation, we prioritize health initiatives that transform lives. Sebeccly’s mission to empower patients and honor survivors aligns perfectly with our values, which is why we have proudly partnered with them over the years,” affirmed ACT Foundation.
“The resilience of Dr. Omolola Salako and my personal loss to cancer motivate my support,” expressed Hansatu Adegbite.
“Ensuring cancer patients have access to affordable early detection and treatment is critical,” emphasized The 21 Foundation.
“I support women like Veronica in their treatment journeys,” said Wana Udobang.
“Every free screening, every patient aided, and every healthcare worker trained is made possible by the steadfast friends of Sebeccly,” added Dr. Salako.
As Sebeccly embarks on its third decade of service, it warmly invites individuals and organisations to join the Friends and Families of the Centre. Starting September 2025, exclusive monthly ceremonies will be held to recognize new partners by inscribing their names on the Donor Wall of Hope.
