- Popular social media figure Martins Otse, widely recognized as VeryDarkMan, marked the 40th birthday of Seyi Tinubu on October 13.
- Seyi Tinubu is the son of Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu.
- In celebration of Seyi Tinubu’s milestone, there are initiatives underway to distribute one million copies of the Holy Bible throughout Nigeria.
Martins Otse, better known as VeryDarkMan on social media, joined the chorus of well-wishers celebrating the 40th birthday of Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, on Monday, October 13.
Amidst widespread reports about a plan to distribute one million copies of the Holy Bible across Nigeria in honor of Seyi Tinubu, VeryDarkMan expressed his views on this initiative.
The Bible distribution campaign was announced during a thanksgiving ceremony held at the National Christian Centre in Abuja on Sunday. This event was organized by close friends of Seyi and coordinated by Hon. Belusochukwu Enwere, who serves as the National Chairman of the Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN).
In his commentary, VeryDarkMan raised questions about the appropriateness of the gesture, pointing out that Seyi Tinubu is a Muslim and therefore, distributing Bibles seemed incongruous. He suggested that religion is frequently exploited as a tool for control and influence.
He further argued that Seyi could have chosen a more impactful or relevant way to commemorate his birthday that would benefit Nigerians more directly.
“This is quite questionable. You are not a Christian; you follow Islam. Why then are you distributing Bibles? This highlights what I often say: religion is used as a means of control. Instead of handing out something that could truly empower Nigerian youth, he opts for Bibles. Although he is not officially in government, he is connected to it in some capacity. There are countless other ways to support Nigerians; why resort to Bibles if not to confine people within religious boundaries?” he stated in a video.
“Happy birthday, but seriously, what’s the intention behind giving out one million Bibles? It doesn’t seem like a simple act of kindness. What’s the real agenda here?” he added in a social media caption.

Here are some reactions from the public:
@Oma Eze: “They say we should just read the gospel and move on.”
@Benz Materials: “Everyone already has the Bible on their phones.”
@Judith Amechi: “People usually donate during their mother’s birthday, but this time it’s Bibles. He’s really spending big. Sharing Bibles? Some people will still accept it, no matter what.”
@Seamfit trends: “Seyi Tinubu said, ‘Let the Word spread!’ literally. He gave out Bibles for his birthday instead of working to change the country. At this rate, he’s finished with Christians.”
