Hi Shank, how are you feeling today?

Hey! I’m feeling fantastic, thanks for asking. How about you?

Your content has resonated with many fans. What motivated your transition into streaming, and how did you know it was the right moment?

Streaming, to me, is an additional tool to elevate my career. About ten months ago, I wasn’t interested in streaming at all. But over time, I realized it’s a powerful way to amplify my brand and reach my goals. My ambition is straightforward: I want my name to be recognized worldwide. So now, I juggle being a skit creator, streamer, and YouTuber. Tomorrow, who knows? I’m open to anything that aligns with my vision, and I pursue it unapologetically.

Could you share a bit about your upbringing, education, and career path? Is there a childhood memory that significantly influenced who you are today?

I honestly don't recall much from my kindergarten days-probably because I wasn’t too focused on academics back then! I attended Goodness and Mercy Private School in Olambe, Ogun State, for primary education, and then Lagos State Model College, Meiran, for secondary school. Later, I studied Electronic and Electrical Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, Osun State. After graduating, I realized I didn’t want a traditional 9-to-5 job. I began as a Twitter influencer in 2019, and one of my videos went viral unexpectedly. Since then, it’s been a journey guided by faith and persistence-I’m still amazed at how far I’ve come.

When did you recognize that comedy could evolve from just online skits into a full-fledged career?

The moment I started earning from it, I knew this was serious. That’s when I fully committed. God has been good.

What has been the toughest challenge in your career so far, and what lessons did it teach you?

I’ve invested a lot of effort and constantly seek new ways to keep things fresh because I get bored quickly. In 2019, I focused on Twitter; 2020 was all about 3 Points videos; 2021 saw me creating Evangelist A. A Alao skits; 2022 introduced the Lit Gang; 2023 was dedicated to YouTube content; 2024 combined skits with YouTube; and in 2025, I embraced streaming. I thrive on excitement-if something doesn’t spark joy, I find something that does.

Reflecting on your journey, what insights has content creation given you about Nigerians and yourself?

I’ve learned that Nigerians-and really, people everywhere-often don’t know what they want until you present it to them. So, it’s best not to overthink things; just take action. At the core, people crave entertainment.

If you weren’t a content creator, what unexpected career might you be pursuing?

I’d probably be a copywriter, crafting compelling sales messages for brands.

A moving man will surely meet his luck

Is there a personal experience that influences the type of content or projects you choose to create?

Honestly, I’m just a laid-back guy. I often think of the most unbelievable “this can’t be real” moments and turn them into skits. It keeps things fun and spontaneous.

It can be tough to express yourself without worrying about critics. What part of Emmanuel are you still discovering beyond the Shank Comics persona?

I’m still figuring that out. But I’ve come to accept that not everyone truly cares about my feelings or my truth-and that’s okay.

Huge thanks to Shank Comics for taking the time to chat with us and for his prompt responses.
