Mrs. Nonye Soludo, spouse of the Anambra State governor, has issued a bold ultimatum to Senator Uche Ekwunife, proposing that they either take a solemn oath of loyalty before the Blessed Virgin Mary or agree to DNA testing of their children to settle ongoing disputes.
This confrontation arose after Senator Ekwunife, the All Progressives Congress (APC) deputy governorship candidate for the 2025 Anambra election, insinuated that Mrs. Soludo had a past association with former Governor Chinwoke Mbadinuju.
In a public statement released on Friday, Mrs. Soludo vehemently denied these accusations, accusing Ekwunife of concocting falsehoods and unfairly involving her children in political controversies.
She labeled the allegations as defamatory and demanded that Ekwunife retract her statements within 72 hours, issue a formal apology, or face legal consequences.
“Given that Uche Ekwunife professes to be a devout Catholic, I challenge her to join me in swearing an oath of fidelity and chastity at any cathedral, in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament and the Holy Bible,” Mrs. Soludo declared.
“I will solemnly swear, alongside my children, that throughout my 55 years, I have known only one man-Chukwuma Soludo. Likewise, you should swear, with your children or your political aspirations as witnesses, that you have remained faithful to your husband since your marriage,” she added.
Further intensifying the challenge, Mrs. Soludo proposed a scientific approach to resolve doubts by suggesting DNA paternity tests for their children.
“I invite you, Uche Ekwunife, to submit our children to paternity testing at three reputable London hospitals. I will cover all costs, including travel for you and your family. Should the results affirm that your husband is the biological father of your children, I will not only congratulate you but also present a monetary reward,” she stated.
Highlighting her Christian values and unwavering loyalty, Mrs. Soludo emphasized her lifelong commitment to her marriage.
“I entered this marriage as a virgin, and my fidelity over 33 years of marriage remains unbreakable,” she affirmed.
She also underscored her independence, noting that her identity and dignity have never hinged on government privileges, even in her role as First Lady.
“My defense will be upheld with dignity, integrity, and grace. I am prepared for the long haul, and I invite you to this endurance challenge,” she concluded.
This dispute follows Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s earlier public questioning of Senator Ekwunife’s academic credentials, which elicited sharp rebuttals from the APC deputy governorship candidate, prompting Mrs. Soludo’s direct involvement in the escalating exchange.
