Stanley Nwabali, the Super Eagles’ key goalkeeper, appeared uncertain for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers, but his resilience shines through once again.
Contrary to earlier concerns about a potential injury, Stanley Nwabali has reassured fans of his readiness by sharing footage of his training session with Chippa United, according to Soccernet.ng.
During Chippa United’s recent 1-0 defeat to Richards Bay, Nwabali was forced off the field in the 35th minute, raising alarms about a possible serious injury that could have sidelined him for an extended period.
With Nigeria’s pivotal 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against Rwanda and South Africa looming, many feared the 29-year-old goalkeeper would miss these crucial fixtures.
Adding to Nigeria’s challenges, second-choice goalkeeper Maduka Okoye remains unavailable due to a suspension imposed in Italy, intensifying the importance of Nwabali’s fitness.
Nonetheless, optimism surged when the Nigeria Football Federation announced the final squad for the upcoming qualifiers, with Nwabali’s name included, signaling his expected participation.
This inclusion strongly suggests that Nwabali will be match-ready for at least one of the critical encounters against Rwanda or South Africa.
In a recent update, Nwabali personally confirmed his full recovery and readiness to compete at the highest level.
