Several key Super Eagles players finalized their transfers late in the summer window, missing the chance to train with their new clubs before departing for international duty during the recent break.

Meanwhile, those who remained active in club training were not selected by coach Eric Chelle, as Nigeria secured four points from their matches against Rwanda and South Africa.

With club competitions resuming this weekend, Soccernet.ng spotlights five Super Eagles talents who are likely to make their first appearances for their new teams.

Tolu Arokodare

At 24 years old, striker Tolu Arokodare has joined Wolverhampton Wanderers, a club with three English Premier League titles, on a four-year contract worth £24 million.

Arokodare, who netted the decisive goal in Nigeria’s 1-0 victory over Rwanda, has already joined Wolves’ training sessions. He is expected to potentially debut at St. James’ Park when Wolves face Newcastle United.

The tall forward expressed confidence in his ability to adapt and contribute effectively in the Premier League, emphasizing his readiness to embrace the challenge.

Cyriel Dessers

Cyriel Dessers, who tallied 52 goals and 17 assists in 116 appearances for Rangers, completed a last-minute transfer to Panathinaikos FC, Greece’s 20-time champions, for a fee of €4.63 million.

Though Dessers’ goal-scoring record at Rangers was commendable, fans often debated his finishing, believing he could have been more clinical. The 30-year-old is poised to make his debut for Panathinaikos against Kifisia FC at the Panthessaliko Stadium this Sunday.

Samuel Chukwueze

After a challenging period at AC Milan with limited playing opportunities, Samuel Chukwueze has moved on loan to Fulham, joining fellow Nigerians Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey.

The loan agreement includes an option for Fulham to purchase Chukwueze permanently for up to €25 million, though this is not obligatory and depends on his performances at Craven Cottage.

The nimble winger has been training with his new squad and is expected to feature in Fulham’s upcoming match against Leeds United.

Victor Boniface

After a medical setback in Italy with AC Milan, Victor Boniface returned to Germany to continue his career with Bayer 04 Leverkusen.

Despite concerns about his fitness, the 24-year-old forward secured a season-long loan to Werder Bremen and may make his first appearance against Borussia Mönchengladbach this Sunday.

Gift Orban

Gift Orban, who scored four goals in 13 appearances for Hoffenheim, has joined Hellas Verona on a season-long loan from the Bundesliga club.

The arrangement includes an option to buy, contingent on Orban’s impact in Serie A. He is anticipated to debut for Verona in their match against Cremonese on Monday.

Christantus Uche

Just before the September international break, midfielder Christantus Uche secured a transfer to Crystal Palace, where he will wear the number 12 jersey.
