The All Progressives Congress (APC) has ruled out Kayode Ojo and Abimbola Olajumoke-Olawumi from participating in its upcoming Ekiti State governorship primary election.
Conversely, the party has given the green light for Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji and Atinuke Oluremi-Omolayo to vie in the primary contest.
Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Durosinmi Meseko, revealed this decision following the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) meeting held in Abuja on Thursday. The move came after a thorough review of the APC Ekiti State Governorship Aspirant Screening Exercise report.
Meseko further announced that the NWC has resolved to dissolve the APC Executive Committee in Enugu State with immediate effect, after an extensive evaluation of the party’s status within the state.
In its place, a seven-member Caretaker Committee has been established to manage party affairs in Enugu State.
The committee, set to be officially inaugurated on Friday at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja, will be chaired by Dr. Ben Nwoye, with Hon. Eugene Odoh serving as Secretary. Other members include Fidelia Njoeze, Peter Chime, Dr. Oby Ajih, Dr. Chiedozie Nwafor, and Emma Ekeh.
“The 179th meeting of the APC National Working Committee convened at the Party’s National Secretariat in Abuja on Thursday, 9th October 2025, under the leadership of National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda,” Meseko stated.
“Following the meeting, several key resolutions were adopted. Among them, the APC National Reconciliation Committee, led by H.E. Chief Bisi Akande, will be inaugurated on a date to be announced shortly.”
“Additionally, the schedule for the Party’s congresses nationwide will be unveiled soon. The APC Constitution Amendment Committee is set to begin public consultations within October 2025.”
“Furthermore, the APC Anambra State Governorship National Campaign Council will be inaugurated in the near future,” he concluded.
