Foxconn, a prominent Taiwanese multinational corporation and a leader in the global technology sector, has expressed its intention to establish a manufacturing facility in Ogun State.
This announcement was made by Mr. Vincent Lee, AVP of Corporate Business Development at the Chairman’s Office, during a weekend delegation visit to Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, at the Gateway City Gate Interchange on the Abeokuta-Sagamu Expressway.
Mr. Lee explained that the purpose of their visit was to explore potential business ventures with the aim of launching operations within the state.
He highlighted that Foxconn stands as the world’s largest contract electronics manufacturer, generating annual revenues exceeding $200 billion and employing thousands across its global manufacturing sites.
Foxconn’s core focus areas include smart manufacturing, technological infrastructure, and industrial growth, Mr. Lee added.
“Our delegation is here in Ogun State to engage with the governor on investment prospects that could facilitate the establishment of our business presence in this region,” he stated.
Governor Abiodun, in his remarks, emphasized that Ogun State is steadily positioning itself as a leading investment destination and an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) hub in Africa, thanks to progressive reforms and a business-friendly environment fostered by his administration.
He pointed out that the state’s remarkable achievement lies in its ability to generate sustainable internally sourced revenue and attract private investments without overdependence on federal funding.
This innovative fiscal approach, the governor noted, has transformed Ogun into a benchmark for economic development in Nigeria, with ICT playing a pivotal role in automating revenue collection and expanding the digital economy.
Assuring continued efforts to unlock opportunities that empower residents and boost investor confidence, Governor Abiodun reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to promoting Ogun State as a center for technological innovation through targeted policies that leverage ICT as both a governance tool and an investment magnet.
“By launching technology hubs, nurturing digital startups, and fostering collaborations with international corporations, Ogun is aligning itself with global standards in digital innovation and competitiveness,” he remarked.
Describing himself as Ogun State’s “Chief Marketing Officer,” Governor Abiodun committed to ongoing engagement with investors, consistently showcasing the state’s strategic advantages-including its prime location, robust industrial base, skilled labor force, and investor-friendly policies-to the international business community.
