On Friday, President Bola Tinubu officially inaugurated a series of advanced facilities at the historic Sultan Bello Mosque in Kaduna, funded by Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL).
The newly completed amenities feature a cutting-edge ablution centre, 50 restrooms including VIP sections, and a 300,000-litre elevated water reservoir designed to benefit both worshippers and the nearby Ungwan Sarki community in Kaduna.
Attending the event during the wedding of Senator Abdul’Aziz Yari’s son, the former Zamfara State governor, President Tinubu hailed the project as a symbol of national unity and a strong example of corporate social responsibility (CSR) spanning Nigeria’s diverse regions.
Previously, the mosque depended on a modest ablution facility that was insufficient for the large congregation, especially during the busy Friday Juma’at prayers.
With the new ablution centre, up to 300 worshippers can perform their ablutions simultaneously, while the large water tank ensures a steady and reliable water supply for both the mosque and the surrounding community.
Tantita Security Services, led by former militant leader Chief Government Ekpemupolo, widely known as Tompolo, primarily focuses on safeguarding oil pipelines in the Niger Delta region.
Site engineer Abba Mubashir detailed the project’s execution, emphasizing the high-quality standards maintained throughout. “From the groundwork to the final touches, the construction was fully completed. The ablution facility is spacious, and the 300,000-litre tank now provides water to both the mosque and the local residents,” he explained.
Mubashir also revealed that Tantita has extended its CSR efforts beyond this project, having sponsored an Islamic school in Ambushia and a Christian school in Sabo, both located within Kaduna State.
The Chief Ladan of Sultan Bello Mosque, Malam Abdurrahman Abdulhamid, expressed heartfelt appreciation to Tantita for reviving and finishing a project that had been stalled for several years.
“Praise be to God, this initiative was originally started by Mr. Jack Rich but was left incomplete for about three to four years. Tantita stepped in and brought it to completion. Now, 300 worshippers can perform ablution simultaneously, with 50 toilets including VIP facilities, and the 300,000-litre water tank serves both the mosque and the community,” he remarked.
He prayed for continued blessings on Tantita and encouraged the company to maintain its commitment to community-focused projects.
Residents of Ungwan Sarki welcomed the development, highlighting how the new facilities have significantly alleviated water scarcity issues in their area.
The commissioning event not only enhanced President Tinubu’s visit to Kaduna but also highlighted the increasing impact of private sector contributions in addressing Nigeria’s infrastructure challenges.
