President Bola Tinubu has expressed profound grief upon learning of the untimely death of Ms. Somtochukwu ‘Sommie’ Maduagwu, a talented news anchor with Arise News Television, who tragically lost her life during a violent robbery at her home in Katampe, Abuja.
Through a statement issued by his spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu conveyed his sincere sympathies to Ms. Maduagwu’s family, the leadership and employees of Arise News Television, as well as the broader Nigerian journalism community, mourning this heartbreaking loss.
“Ms. Maduagwu was an exceptionally gifted journalist whose promising career was abruptly ended in a senseless and reprehensible act,” the statement noted.
President Tinubu has called on security agencies and law enforcement to promptly and thoroughly investigate the incident, emphasizing the urgent need to identify, apprehend, and prosecute those responsible without delay.
