After a productive ten-day official engagement in Lagos, President Bola Tinubu is scheduled to return to Abuja on Monday.
Presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga confirmed that the President arrived in Lagos on Friday, September 26, following his participation in the coronation ceremony of Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, held in Ibadan, Oyo State.
During his stay in Nigeria’s economic hub, President Tinubu held discussions with prominent investors, including Bayo Ogunlesi, CEO of Global Infrastructure Partners, and Keem Belo-Osagie, former chairman of United Bank for Africa and Etisalat, who currently chairs Metis Capital Partners.
The President also welcomed Mr. Arsenio Dominguez, Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO), accompanied by the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, alongside other maritime sector leaders.
In their dialogue, Tinubu emphasized his government’s dedication to advancing Nigeria’s maritime sector as a sustainable and strategic alternative to traditional fossil fuels.
Marking the eve of Nigeria’s 65th Independence anniversary, the President traveled to Imo State to inaugurate several initiatives spearheaded by Governor Hope Uzodimma.
Additionally, he launched a book authored by Governor Uzodimma that documents a decade of governance under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nigeria.
On Independence Day, President Tinubu delivered the national address from the State House at Dodan Barracks. He subsequently commissioned the refurbished National Theatre, now renamed the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and the Creative Arts, urging Nigerians to foster a positive narrative about their nation.
On Saturday, October 4, the President journeyed from Lagos to Jos, the capital of Plateau State, to attend the funeral of Mama Lydia Yilwatda, mother of Professor Nantawe Yilwatda, APC chairman.
At the memorial service, President Tinubu honored Mama Yilwatda’s legacy and reassured Christian communities in Northern Nigeria of his administration’s steadfast commitment to justice and equal treatment for all religious groups across the country.
