The Imo State Police Command, in collaboration with other security agencies, has declared its readiness to provide comprehensive security arrangements for President Bola Tinubu’s upcoming visit to Owerri, the capital of Imo State, scheduled for Tuesday.

During this visit, President Tinubu is slated to inaugurate several significant projects. These include a newly published book by Governor Hope Uzodimma that documents the first decade of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the renovated Owerri-Mbaise-Obowo-Umuahia Road, and a newly constructed flyover linking Port Harcourt and Onitsha Roads. Additionally, substantial improvements have been made around the Assumpta Cathedral Roundabout in Owerri, among other developments, as outlined by the Imo State government.

DSP Henry Okoye, the Police Public Relations Officer for Imo State, confirmed that security personnel have been strategically positioned throughout the state to guarantee a smooth and secure event. He emphasized that officers are stationed at all major entry and exit points, as well as along the route from Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport to Owerri’s city center and other local government areas.

Okoye further explained that enhanced security measures, including route monitoring and extensive coverage, have been implemented at all venues hosting the President’s engagements. He also revealed that Operation Show of Force and continuous patrols are active across the state’s three senatorial districts to reassure citizens of their safety.

In partnership with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the police have deployed traffic wardens to key congestion hotspots to facilitate smooth vehicular movement within Owerri and other critical locations. This coordinated effort aims to minimize traffic disruptions during the President’s visit.

The Commissioner of Police in Imo State, CP Aboki Danjuma, has reassured both residents and visitors of their security throughout the event. He urged everyone to comply with law enforcement directives, respect traffic rerouting, and cooperate fully with security personnel to ensure the visit’s success.

Authorities have issued a stern warning to anyone considering actions that could disturb public order. Security forces are prepared to respond decisively to any threats, with offenders facing immediate arrest and prosecution under the law.

DSP Okoye stated, “We caution all individuals with malicious intent to desist from any attempts to disrupt peace. Our security agencies remain united, alert, and ready to act swiftly against any breach of public safety. Those found engaging in activities that threaten the state’s security will be promptly apprehended and prosecuted to the fullest extent.”

The police have called on the people of Imo State to report any unusual activities or suspicious persons to the nearest police station or via the Command’s emergency hotline at 0803 477 3600. He concluded by emphasizing that collective vigilance will ensure a peaceful and secure environment before, during, and after the President’s visit.
