The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has announced plans to dedicate 20 days to highlight the administration’s accomplishments in the education sector, aiming to silence critics active on social media platforms.
Wike made this commitment following the inauguration of a new engineering project in the Wuye District of the FCT.
He revealed that after a short break, his attention will turn to unveiling completed educational initiatives, directly addressing what he referred to as “social media presidents.”
“We intend to spend 20 days demonstrating to Nigerians and the social media critics the progress we have made in education. This won’t be rushed,” Wike emphasized.
“Our goal is to impress with the tangible results in education, proving that President Tinubu’s administration is not solely focused on road infrastructure within the FCT but is equally committed to advancing the education sector.”
“I have instructed the chief of staff that we will pause our commissioning activities for now. Twenty days is a significant period, not just a couple of days. We will rest briefly and then concentrate fully on education,” he added.
Using the Wuye project as a benchmark-a 600-hectare district whose contract was initially awarded in 2009 but left incomplete by previous contractors-Wike highlighted the Tinubu administration’s efficiency and determination.
He challenged former governments to match the current administration’s speed and effectiveness in project delivery.
“Since the inception of the Federal Capital Territory, no administration has achieved what we are accomplishing now under Asiwaju Tinubu. Let those who doubt speak up or remain silent forever,” Wike declared.
He portrayed the surge in completed projects as evidence of dedicated and transformative leadership.
“This progress reflects a leadership that is truly committed to improving lives. If you support Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, I stand with you. And if you haven’t changed your stance, don’t waver now. A political wave is imminent,” he warned.
Wike commended the contractor, Arab Contractors, for persevering with the work despite outstanding payments, and pointed to other significant projects, such as the road linking the Airport to Kuje, as clear signs of impactful development.
“My frustration is that everything here is politicized. Asiwaju has revolutionized the cityscape of our capital,” he remarked.
Regarding his approach, the minister urged the public to focus on outcomes rather than appearances. “I have told people not to be distracted by my image or demeanor. What truly matters is the work being accomplished.”
“I am determined to shift the narrative. We will demonstrate to the opposition that the FCT is progressing,” he affirmed.
In her contribution, FCT Minister of State, Mariya Mahmoud, described the Wuye project as a vital development that provides communities with the infrastructure and comfort they have long awaited.
“As we mark this milestone, let us remember that every achievement is a promise fulfilled, and every completion signals a fresh start,” she said.
Mahmoud expressed her gratitude to President Tinubu and extended heartfelt thanks to Wike for his outstanding leadership and unwavering commitment to delivering projects that improve lives and uplift communities.
