Wolverhampton Wanderers and Nigeria’s Super Eagles forward, Tolu Arokodare, netted his inaugural goal for Wolves during their 2-0 triumph over Everton in the Carabao Cup, according to Soccernet.ng.
The 24-year-old striker had started consecutive matches under Vitor Pereira against Newcastle United and Leeds United, managing only a single shot on target across 156 minutes of play.
Making an impact off the bench at Molineux in the 68th minute, Arokodare found the net 20 minutes later, marking a significant milestone in his Wolves career.
He skillfully controlled a pass from Joao Gomes before delicately lifting the ball over Everton goalkeeper Mark Travers, securing Wolves’ second goal of the evening.

Manager Praises Arokodare’s Performance
For the clash against Everton, Vitor Pereira adjusted his tactics and introduced nine changes from the previous match against Leeds United.
Despite being three-time English Premier League champions, Wolves have yet to secure a league victory this season. Pereira expressed optimism that this Carabao Cup win would inject much-needed confidence into his squad.
“It was encouraging to witness the players displaying confidence, executing quality football, applying effective pressure, and demonstrating strong character and team unity,” the 57-year-old coach shared, as reported by the club’s official website.
“This result shows me that we are capable because the players possess quality. We can field a stronger team and start collecting points in the league.
“A positive outcome can transform everything – the team’s spirit, the atmosphere. I’ve missed seeing my players and fans smile, and today we have every reason to be happy.”

The former FC Porto manager was particularly pleased that his summer acquisition, Arokodare, finally broke his duck, boosting the striker’s morale. However, he emphasized the importance of the Nigerian forward reaching peak fitness.
“We anticipated a powerful shot on goal because he has confidence in his abilities.
“Physically, he’s not yet at his best. Larsen contributed significantly today, and when Tolu came on, he added value. That’s the attitude I want to see.
“Tolu was brought in to cover for Jorgen’s absence. The plan wasn’t for him to play a full 90 minutes immediately but to gradually adapt and gain match minutes.
“He must work hard to improve his conditioning, and when he does, he will be a great asset to us,” the two-time Primeira Liga champion concluded after Arokodare’s breakthrough goal for the Old Gold.
When asked about his decision to alter the team’s formation for the match, Pereira explained;
“My role isn’t to satisfy myself but to find solutions, positioning players where they feel comfortable and can perform at their best.
“Today, I was pleased with the outcome. Sometimes, changing tactics is necessary to achieve different results. I believe we accomplished that today.
“Currently, we can utilize multiple formations. Although we had only one day to prepare, our game plan remained consistent. I’m proud of my players’ adaptability.
“There’s a distinct energy when confidence is present, enabling players to perform at a higher level.
“Today’s performance demonstrated that everyone on the pitch is capable of competing at Premier League standards, and we can challenge teams of this caliber,” he concluded.
Following his first goal for Wolves, Arokodare will be eager to continue his scoring streak as the team prepares for their upcoming Premier League fixture against Tottenham Hotspur in London this Saturday.
