Hajia Sa’adatu Adamu Bokane, the National Coordinator of the New Dawn For Women And Community Intervention Initiative (NEWOMCII), has emphasized the urgent need for enhanced collaboration with government bodies at all tiers to advance the empowerment of women nationwide.
She highlighted that NEWOMCII is fueled by a deep commitment to uplifting women across the country, urging widespread support for the cause.
Addressing reporters in Abuja, Hajia Bokane explained that the organization was established to amplify the voices of numerous women, families, and communities striving for dignity, opportunity, and transformative change.
“In my role as National Coordinator of NEWOMCII, I represent not just an institution but the aspirations of many women and communities seeking respect, progress, and new possibilities,” she stated.
“Our core objective at NEWOMCII is straightforward yet impactful: to empower women and foster community advancement through focused initiatives, educational programs, and grassroots projects that encourage socio-economic development and overall well-being. We hold the conviction that when a woman flourishes, her family stands strong; when communities prosper, the nation thrives. Our guiding principle is ‘Empowering Women,'” the coordinator affirmed.
She recounted the persistent challenges faced by women in both rural and urban areas-mothers laboring tirelessly without adequate healthcare, widows abandoned without assistance, young girls whose ambitions are stifled, and families devastated by poverty and neglect.
These realities inspired the formation of NEWOMCII, aiming to illuminate these overlooked struggles and assure every woman and community that their narratives can be transformed and their futures renewed.
Through diverse programs such as vocational training, support for widows, and community development efforts, the initiative strives to restore hope and improve lives in areas where despair once prevailed.
“However, this is only the beginning. Today’s briefing serves to outline our goals and to appeal for stronger alliances with government entities, private organizations, the media, and all Nigerians committed to positive change.
“True progress cannot be achieved by a single group alone. It requires a unified spirit of empathy, solidarity, and determination. Moving forward, our priorities include broadening our women’s empowerment and livelihood initiatives to reach more underserved rural populations; intensifying advocacy for gender equality; encouraging community participation; and reinforcing resilience-building programs that make a tangible difference at the grassroots level. We are not here to dwell on challenges; we are here to create solutions. We are not waiting for hope to arrive; we are actively shaping it.”
